Green 100: Real Estate for a Sustainable Future
This course will lead you through an exploration of issues and trends in relation to real estate’s role in finding the balance between people, planet, and prosperity. It is designed to help you build a green-focused real estate business, provide objective information to clients and customers on nationally recognized certifications and rating programs that evaluate homes, products, energy efficiency, and professionals.
Upon completion, you’ll be able to:
• Discuss the concepts and vocabulary of going green with customers and clients.
• Respond to the concerns and priorities of the green-generation consumer whether they are a seller, buyer, tenant, builder or developer.
• Guide buyers and sellers in obtaining meaningful energy ratings and assessments.
• Help consumers understand the significance of national green certifications and rating programs for homes, construction materials, and professionals.
• Explain the relationship of sustainable features to property values.

Green 200: The Science of Green Building
This course is designed to familiarize you with green principles and choices in home design and construction; raise your awareness of innovative materials, systems, and construction methods; explain energy-efficient systems including onsite power generation; and enable you to distinguish levels and cost-benefits of retrofitting, remodeling, or renovating existing homes.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
• Describe steps in green home siting and design as well as selection of materials and systems.
• Identify components of the building envelope and discuss innovative building technologies and materials.
• Recognize types of green systems for homes and discuss the pros, cons and interrelationships of interior systems.
• Guide consumers to information about incentives for green homes.
• Discuss the technologies for on-site power generation and describe the pros and cons of generating your own energy.
• Explain the benefits of retrofits for existing homes.
• Evaluate cost-benefit balance of retrofitting, remodeling, and renovating.
