Sales of new single-family homes in the Northeast in May were up 36.7 percent to a seasonally adjusted rate of 41,000, according to the U.S. Commerce Department. April’s revised annual rate was 30,000.
Nationally, new home sales were at a seasonally adjusted rate of 369,000 for May. This is 7.6 percent above the revised April rate of 343,000 and is 19.8 percent above the May 2011 total of 308,000.
