Sales of new single-family homes in the Northeast in June were down 60 percent to a seasonally adjusted rate of 16,000, according to the U.S. Commerce Department. May’s revised annual rate was 40,000.
Nationally, new home sales were at a seasonally adjusted rate of 350,000 for June. This is 8.4 percent below the revised May rate of 382,000 and is 15.1 percent above the June 2011 total of 304,000.
