SRI: Home buying plans down in August; New York State consumer confidence decreases

According to the latest poll by the Siena Research Institute (SRI), New York State consumer home buying plans were down 0.5 points to 3.7 percent in August. Overall, New York State consumer confidence decreased 0.9 points, while the nation’s confidence increased 2 points. At 73.9, New York’s overall consumer confidence is 0.4 points below the nation’s confidence level of 74.3.
In August, buying plans were up for cars/trucks, 0.7 points to 11.0 percent; and computers, 2.3 points to 17.6 percent.
