U.S. Commerce Department: New home sales up for Northeast in June

Sales of new single-family homes in the Northeast in June were up 18.5 percent to a seasonally adjusted rate of 32,000, according to the U.S. Commerce Department. May’s revised annual rate was 27,000.

Nationally, new home sales were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 497,000 for June. This is 8.3 percent above the revised May rate of 459,000 and is 38.1 percent above the June 2012 total of 360,000.

Empire State housing market stays hot in January

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS.
