SRI: Home buying plans down slightly in November, overall New York State confidence increases

According to the latest poll by the Siena Research Institute (SRI), New York State consumer home buying plans were down 1.1 points to 4 percent in November. Overall, New York State consumer confidence increased 3.7 points, while the nation’s confidence level increased 1.9 points. At 73.3, New York’s overall consumer confidence is 1.8 points below the nation’s confidence level of 75.1.

Buying plans were also down for furniture and major home improvements. Buying plans were up for cars/trucks and consumer electronics.

Empire State housing market stays hot in January

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS.
