RealtyTrac: New York State November 2013 total foreclosures increase from last month and last year

In its U.S. Foreclosures Market Report for November 2013, which reports default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions, RealtyTrac Inc. reported New York State had 4,062 total foreclosures, an 8.58-percent increase from October and an increase of 9.22 percent from the same time last year.

New York State ranks 28 out of all 50 states for monthly total foreclosure filings. One in every 1,989 housing units in New York State received a foreclosure filing in November.

Foreclosure filings were reported nationally on 113,454 U.S. properties in November. This is a decrease of 15.28 percent from last month and a decrease of 37.25 percent from November 2012. Nationally, one in every 1,155 housing units received a foreclosure filing.
