Builder confidence slips slightly nationally, rises in Northeast

Builder confidence in the market for newly-built, single-family homes fell one point to 56 in January from a revised December reading of 57, according to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI). 

The HMI for the Northeast rose four points to 42 in January.

Empire State housing market stays hot in January

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS.
