U.S. Commerce Department: New home sales fall in February for Northeast

Sales of new single-family homes in the Northeast in February were down 32.4 percent to a seasonally adjusted rate of 23,000, according to the U.S. Commerce Department. January’s revised annual rate was 34,000.

Nationally, new home sales were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 440,000 for February. This is 3.3 percent below the revised January rate of 455,000, and is 1.1 percent below the February 2013 total of 445,000.

Empire State housing market stays hot in January

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS.
