SRI: Home buying plans and overall New York State confidence continue to fall in March

According to the latest poll by the Siena Research Institute (SRI), New York State consumer home buying plans fell 0.1 points to 3.8 percent in March. Overall, New York State consumer confidence decreased 2.4 points, while the nation’s confidence fell 1.6 points. At 73.9, New York’s overall consumer confidence is 6.1 points below the nation’s confidence level of 80.

Buying plans were up in March for consumer electronics, furniture and major home improvements. Buying plans were down for cars/trucks.

Empire State housing market stays hot in January

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS.
