U.S. Commerce Department: New home sales down in April for Northeast

Sales of new single-family homes in the Northeast in April were down 26.7 percent to a seasonally adjusted rate of 22,000, according to the U.S. Commerce Department. March’s revised annual rate was 30,000.

Nationally, new home sales were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 433,000 for April. This is 6.4 percent above the revised March rate of 407,000, but is 4.2 percent below the April 2013 total of 452,000.

Empire State housing market stays hot in January

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS.
