NAR: National existing-home sales heat up in May, rise for Northeast

Existing-home sales rose strongly in May and inventory gains continued to help moderate price growth, according to the National Association of REALTORS (NAR). 

Total existing-home sales, which include single-family townhomes, condominiums and co-ops, rose 4.9 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.89 million in May. May closings were 5 percent below the 5.15 million-unit pace of May 2013.

In the Northeast, existing-home sales rose 3.3 percent to an annual rate of 620,000 in May, which is 3.1 percent below a year ago.

Home sales near record high in November

There were 10,719 closed home sales across New York State during November, representing the second-highest total on record for the month. The November sales record of 10,991 was set in November 2016. The statewide median sales price grew by 5.8 percent in November compared to last November. Click here to read more.
