RealtyTrac: New York State July 2014 total foreclosures rise from month- and year-ago levels

In its U.S. Foreclosures Market Report for July 2014, which reports default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions, RealtyTrac Inc. reported that New York State had 4,495 total foreclosures, a 29.20-percent increase from June and a 12.18-percent increase from July 2013.

New York State ranks 25 out of all 50 states for monthly total foreclosure filings. One in every 1,802 housing units in New York State received a foreclosure filing in July.

Foreclosure filings were reported nationally on 109,434 U.S. properties in July. This is an increase of 2.09 percent from the previous month, but is down 16.39-percent from the same time a year ago. Nationally, one in every 1,203 housing units received a foreclosure filing.
