Builder confidence rises two points for Northeast and nationally in August

Builder confidence in the market for newly-built, single-family homes rose two points to 55 on the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI) for August. This third consecutive monthly gain brings the index to its highest level since January.

Every region saw a gain in August, with the Northeast posting a two-point gain to 38.

Empire State housing market stays hot in January

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS.
