U.S. Commerce Department: July new home sales fall in Northeast and nationally

Sales of new single-family homes in the Northeast in July fell 30.8 percent to a seasonally adjusted rate of 18,000, according to the U.S. Commerce Department. June’s revised annual rate was 26,000.

Nationally, new home sales were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 412,000 for July. This is 2.4 percent below the revised June rate of 422,000, but is 12.3 percent above the July 2013 total of 367,000.

Empire State housing market stays hot in January

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS. The January statewide median sales price of $266,000 represented an increase of 8.4 percent from a year ago. Click here to read more.
