Mortgage applications decrease for first week of September

In its Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey for the week ending September 5, 2014, the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) reported that the volume of mortgage loan applications fell 7.2 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis from one week earlier. On an unadjusted basis, the index fell 17 percent compared to the previous week. The results included an adjustment for the Labor Day holiday.

Both the Refinance Index and the Purchase Index also decreased, falling 11 percent and 3 percent respectively.

Empire State housing market stays hot in January

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS.
