2014 Fall Business Meetings under way

The 2014 NYSAR Fall Business Meetings kicked off Sunday at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona. During yesterday’s General Session, NYSAR President JP Endres provided a recap of NYSAR's activities on behalf of its members during the year.

Additionally, NAR Director of Housing Statistics Danielle Hale gave a presentation on the home buying needs of Millennials and how they will likely affect the housing market in coming years. The 2014 GRI graduates were announced and the first-ever NYSAR Community Service Award winners, Linda Crispinelli, Susan Helsinger and Jacqlene Rose, were recognized. 

Also during the General Session, the 2014 REALTOR of the Year award was presented to Rick Rielly of Rhinebeck, NY. He is the 57th recipient of the REALTOR of the Year award, which recognizes outstanding service to the REALTOR organization at the local, state and national levels, a strict adherence to the high principles of the National Association of REALTORS Code of Ethics, a commitment to civic activity and business accomplishments. 

The RPAC “Laugh Out Loud Comedy Night” fundraiser was also held last night, which featured comedy, a ventriloquist, and live and silent auctions to raise money for RPAC. It was a sold-out event.

Empire State housing market stays hot in January

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS. The January statewide median sales price of $266,000 represented an increase of 8.4 percent from a year ago. Click here to read more.
