RealtyTrac: Sales pace slows slightly for Northeast in September, median sales price increases

In its September 2014 U.S. Residential & Foreclosure Sales Report, RealtyTrac Inc. reported that New York State residential properties sold at an estimated annualized pace of 146,070 in September. This is 0.81 percent below August’s total and 11.81 percent below September 2013.

The median sales price for New York was $323,000 in September, 3 percent above the previous month and up 1 percent annually. The median price of a distressed sale – in foreclosure or bank-owned property – was $250,000, up 6 percent from August and 14 percent over September 2013. 

Nationally, U.S. residential properties sold at an estimated annualized pace of 4,402,741 in September, a 1-percent decrease from the previous month and a 19-percent drop from a year ago. The national median sales price was $205,000, remaining level with August but up 12 percent from the same time last year.

Empire State housing market stays hot in January

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS.
