RealtyTrac: New York State October 2014 total foreclosure fall from September, rise from year-ago levels

In its U.S. Foreclosure Market Report for October 2014, which reports default notices, schedule auctions and bank repossessions, RealtyTrac Inc. reported that New York State had 4,196 total foreclosures, a 3.21-percent decrease from September, but a 12.16-percent increase from October 2013.

New York State ranks 29 out of all 50 states for monthly total foreclosure filings. One in every 1,931 housing units in New York State received a foreclosure filing in October. 

Foreclosure filings were reported nationally on 124,109 U.S. properties in October. This is 15.2 percent above September’s totals, but down 8.07 percent from the same time last year. Nationally, one in every 1,069 housing units received a foreclosure filing.
