RealtyTrac: New York State November 2014 total foreclosures on the rise from October and year-ago levels

In its U.S. Foreclosure Market Report for November 2014, which reports default notices, schedule auctions and bank repossessions, RealtyTrac reported that New York State had 4,824 total foreclosures, a 14.97-percent increase from October and an 18.76-percent increase from November 2013.

New York State ranks 25th out of all 50 states for monthly total foreclosure filings. One in every 1,680 housing units in New York State received a foreclosure filing in November. 

Foreclosure filings were reported nationally on 112,498 U.S. properties in November. This is 8.62 percent below October’s totals and 0.84 percent lower than November 2013. Nationally, one in every 1,170 housing units received a foreclosure filing.

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS.
