RealtyTrac: New York State February 2015 total foreclosures increase from month- and year-ago levels

In its U.S. Foreclosure Market Report for February 2015, which reports default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions, RealtyTrac reported that New York State had 4,477 total foreclosures, a 4.16-percent increase from January and a 19.48-percent increase from the same time last year.
New York State ranks 25 out of all 50 states in monthly total foreclosure filings. One in every 1,812 housing units in New York State received a foreclosure filing in February.
Foreclosure filings were reported nationally on 101,938 U.S. properties in February. This is 4.29 percent below January’s totals and 9.39 percent lower than February 2014. Nationally, one in every 1,295 housing units received a foreclosure filing.

Empire State housing market stays hot in January

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS.
