Mortgage applications increase more than 9 percent in weekly survey

In its Weekly Mortgage Market Survey for the week ending March 20, 2015, the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) reported that the volume of mortgage loan applications increased 9.5 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis from one week earlier. On an unadjusted basis, the index increased 9 percent compared with the previous week.
 
Both the Refinance Index and the Purchase Index also increased, rising 12 percent and 5 percent respectively.
