U.S. Commerce Department: February new home sales rise more than 150 percent for Northeast

Sales of new single-family homes in the Northeast in February rose an impressive 152.9 percent to 43,000, according to the U.S. Commerce Department. January’s revised annual rate was 17,000. 
Nationally, new home sales were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 539,000, up 7.8 percent from January. This is 24.8 percent above the February 2014 total of 432,000.

Empire State housing market stays hot in January

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS. The January statewide median sales price of $266,000 represented an increase of 8.4 percent from a year ago. Click here to read more.
