RealtyTrac: New York State April 2015 foreclosures continue to increase from month- and year-ago levels

In its U.S. Foreclosures Market Report for April 2015, which reports default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions, RealtyTrac reported that New York State had 5,649 total foreclosures, an 8.36-percent increase from March and a 49.29-percent increase from April 2014.
New York State ranks 22 out of all 50 states in monthly total foreclosure filings. One in every 1,436 housing units in New York State received a foreclosure filing in April.
Foreclosure filings were reported nationally on 125,875 U.S. properties in April. This is 3.13 percent above March’s total and 8.67 percent higher than the same time last year. Nationally, one in every 1,049 housing units received a foreclosure filing.

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS.
