U.S. Commerce Department: New home sales jump 87.5 percent for Northeast in May

Sales of new single-family homes in the Northeast during May rose an impressive 87.5 percent to 30,000, according to the U.S. Commerce Department. April’s revised annual rate was 16,000.
Nationally, new home sales were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 546,000, up 2.2 percent from April and 19.5 percent above the May 2014 total of 457,000.
