SRI: New York State home buying plans decrease in June

According to the latest poll by the Siena Research Institute (SRI), New York State consumer home buying plans were down to 7 percent in June after measuring at 8.1 percent in March. Overall, New York State consumer confidence was down 1.8 points in June to 84.6, 11.5 points below the nation’s index of 96.1. 
 
Buying plans were also down for consumer electronics and major home improvements. Buying plans improved for furniture and remained unchanged for cars/trucks.

Empire State housing market stays hot in January

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS. The January statewide median sales price of $266,000 represented an increase of 8.4 percent from a year ago. Click here to read more.
