RealtyTrac: Foreclosure filings in New York State rise in second quarter and June 2015

In its U.S. Foreclosure Market Report for the second quarter of 2015, which reports default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions, RealtyTrac Inc. reported New York State ranked 22 of all 50 states for quarterly total foreclosure filings. New York had 16,785 total foreclosure filings in the second quarter with 5,987 of them in the month of June.
 
Foreclosure filings in New York State rose 20.82 percent from the previous quarter and increased 40.94 percent from the second quarter of 2014. June’s foreclosure filings were up 8.66 percent from May, and were up 72.09 percent from June of 2014. One in every 483 housing units in New York State received a foreclosure filing in the second quarter and one in every 1,355 received a foreclosure filing in June. 
 
Nationally, foreclosure filings were reported on 117,055 U.S. properties in June, down 8 percent from a 19-month high in May but up 9 percent from a year ago.
