Fixed mortgage rates stay below 4 percent

Freddie Mac's Primary Mortgage Market Survey shows average fixed mortgage rates moving downward for the third week in a row. The survey reported that 30-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 3.91 percent with an average 0.6 point for the week ending Aug. 6, 2015. The 30-year rate averaged 3.98 percent at the end of the previous week.

Fifteen-year fixed rate mortgages averaged 3.13 with an average 0.6 point for the same time period, a decrease from 3.17 last week.

New York State home sales fall short of record 3Q high

There were 38,445 homes sold across New York State during the 2017 third quarter, a 3.1-percent decline from the 2016 third quarter’s record total. The 2017 third quarter sales total is the second best on record for the period.
