RealtyTrac: New York State July 2015 foreclosures fall slightly, increase from July 2014

In its U.S. Foreclosure Market Report for July 2015, which reports default notices, schedule auctions and bank repossessions, RealtyTrac reported that New York State had 5,721 total foreclosures, a 4.44-percent decrease from June but a 27.27-percent increase from July 2014.
New York State ranks 25 out of all 50 states in monthly total foreclosure filings. One in every 1,418 housing units in New York State received a foreclosure filing in July.
Foreclosure filings were reported nationally on 124,910 U.S. properties in July. This is 6.71 percent above June’s total and 14.14 percent above the same time last year. Nationally, one in every 1,057 housing units received a foreclosure filing.

Empire State housing market stays hot in January

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS.
