Mortgage applications increase more than 11 percent in weekly survey

In its Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey for the week ending August 28, 2015, the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) reported that the volume of mortgage loan applications rose 11.3 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis from one week earlier. On an unadjusted basis, the index increased 10 percent compared with the previous week.
 
Both the Refinance Index and Purchase Index also increased according to the weekly survey, rising 17 percent and 4 percent respectively.
