RealtyTrac: New York State October 2015 foreclosures fall more than 18 percent from September

In its U.S. Foreclosure Market Report of October 2015, which reports default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions, RealtyTrac reported that New York State had 5,003 total foreclosures, an 18.93-percent drop from September, but a 19.23-percent increase from October 2014.
New York State ranks 29 out of all 50 states in monthly total foreclosure filings. One in every 1,622 housing units in New York State received a foreclosure filing in October. 
Foreclosure filings were reported nationally on 115,134 U.S. properties in October. This is 5.5 percent above the previous month but 6.48 percent below the same time last year. Nationally, one in every 1,147 housing units received a foreclosure filing.
