RealtyTrac: New York State total annual foreclosures rise in 2015

In its 2015 year-end foreclosure market report, which reports default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions, RealtyTrac Inc. reported New York State had 58,866 total foreclosure filings in 2015, an increase of 23.64 percent from 2014. With one in every 138 homes receiving a foreclosure filing in 2015, New York State ranked 17 out of all 50 states.
New York State had 4,827 total foreclosures in December 2015, an increase of 0.17 percent from November and a 3.54-percent increase from December 2014.
Foreclosure filings were reported nationally for 1,083,572 properties in 2015, a 3.03-percent decrease from the previous year. Nationally in December, 103,373 total foreclosures were reported. This is 0.71 percent below November and 9.5 percent below the same time last year.
