Purchase applications up, refinance applications down in latest weekly survey

In its Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey for the week ending March 4, 2016, the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) reported that the volume of mortgage loan applications increased 0.2 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis from one week earlier. On an unadjusted basis, the index increased one percent compared with the previous week. 

The Refinance Index fell 2 percent from the previous week, while the Purchase Index rose 4 percent to the highest level since January.
