SRI: New York State consumer home buying plans down in latest poll

According to the latest poll by the Siena Research Institute (SRI), New York State consumer home buying plans were down 6.3 percent in March from the last measurement in January. Overall, New York State consumer confidence stands at 87.1, up 1.9 points. New York’s overall consumer confidence is 3.9 points below the nation’s index of 91.
Buying plans were also down for cars/trucks, consumer electronics and furniture. Buying plans were up for major home improvements.

Empire State housing market stays hot in January

New York State home sales remained strong to start the new year with 8,698 closed sales, falling just shy of the 2017 record for January, according to the annual housing market report released by the New York State Association of REALTORS. The January statewide median sales price of $266,000 represented an increase of 8.4 percent from a year ago. Click here to read more.
