Mortgage rates start the year lower

Freddie Mac reported that this week marked the first time in 10 weeks that mortgage rates moved lower. The 30-year mortgage rate fell 12 basis points to 4.20 percent. Despite the week’s breather, the 66-basis point increase in the mortgage rate since November is taking its toll – the Mortgage Banker Association’s refinance index plunged 22 percent this week. Home sales near record high in November

There were 10,719 closed home sales across New York State during November, representing the second-highest total on record for the month. The November sales record of 10,991 was set in November 2016. The statewide median sales price grew by 5.8 percent in November compared to last November. Click here to read more.
