New home sales for Northeast rose more than 30 percent in October

Sales of newly-built, single-family homes in October rose 30.2 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 56,000, according to data from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Census Bureau. Nationally, sales rose 6.2 percent to a rate of 685,000.
