Albany – September 16, 2011 – The New York State Association of REALTORS honored Dawn M. Carpenter as the 2011 REALTOR of the Year during the association’s Fall Business Meetings in Verona, NY.

She is the 54th recipient of the REALTOR of the Year award, which recognizes outstanding service to the REALTOR organization at the local, state and national levels, a strict adherence to the high principles of the National Association of REALTORS Code of Ethics, a commitment to civic activity and business accomplishments.

Carpenter is a past president of the Staten Island Board of REALTORS (SIBOR) where she has also served and chaired on numerous committees. She was also recognized as the local board’s REALTOR of the Year in 2008.

At the state level, Carpenter serves as chair of NYSAR’s Organizational Standards Committee and currently serves on the Legal Action Committee, Legislative Policy Forum, Professional Standards Steering Committee and the Professional Standards Committee. A member of the NYSAR Board of Directors since 2009, she is also graduate of the NYSAR Leadership Academy’s inaugural class.

At the national level, Carpenter is a member of the Commercial Committee and the Commercial Real Estate Research Subcommittee. She is a regular attendee of NAR’s national conference and is a President’s Circle Golden “R” member for her contributions to the REALTORS Political Action Committee (RPAC).

Active in her community, Carpenter has done volunteer work for various organizations including the American Cancer Society, the Staten Island March of Dimes and the Columbia-Greene Special Olympics. She is also a board member and the treasurer of the Staten Island Center for Independent Living.

In acknowledgement of her outstanding achievements, Carpenter will be honored at the REALTOR Recognition Program during the 2011 REALTORS Conference and Expo in Anaheim, CA in November.
