The New York State Association of REALTORS’ 2020 Mid-Winter Business Meetings will be held Sunday, February 9 through Thursday, February 13, 2020 at the Desmond Hotel & Conference Center, Albany, NY.

Please visit NYSAR’s on-site registration desk located in the King Street Courtyard to check in and receive your name badge and final agenda. Attendees who purchased tickets to the Inaugural Dinner will receive them upon check-in.

Designed for local board/association leadership teams and directors, this conference provides direction for forging strong partnerships in order to achieve goals, tackle issues and address challenges that are regularly faced by board/association leadership. The Conference continues Monday from 8 a.m.- Noon.

“The Appraisal Industry: Current Laws, Standards and How to Challenge an Appraisal”
(3 hours of appraiser and real estate CE approved)
Tuesday, 9 a.m.-Noon
Students will walk away understanding; when communication with the appraiser is permitted, how they can stay in compliance with USPAP, and local licensing laws. Instructor Rebecca Jones will also address Dodd Frank Section F, Fannie Mae policies concerning supplemental standards of the secondary market and polices and steps to take when an appraisal rebuttal can be done. This course is designed for both appraisers and salespeople/brokers – highlighting proper communication between the two licensed professions.Submitted for 3 hours of appraiser and real estate CE. Pre-registration and $50 fee applies.
Global, Resort & Second Home Markets Committee
Tuesday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Come hear Steve Maggi, Esq. discuss myths and facts about the intricacies of the EB-5 Visa Program. He’ll also provide insights into real estate investment and give suggestions to brokers looking to work with foreign buyers about other visa categories which might apply. Mr. Maggi manages the SMA Law Firm, a specialized U.S. immigration and consular law boutique firm based in New York City. He has extensive experience working investment visas and assisting foreign companies wanting to expand their businesses into the U.S. You won’t want to miss his presentation!

This must-attend session will include President Jennifer Stevenson’s State of the Association address, a presentation by NAR President Vince Malta, the presentation of the Lawrence B. Caldwell RPAC Award, the 2019 Community Service Awards and hear from our keynote speaker, Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul.
YPN Happy Hour

This is an opportunity to get your questions answered and have a discussion with Department of State staff members on everything from qualifying courses and licensing to continuing education and license renewal. Don’t miss this semi-annual opportunity.
Young Professionals Network (YPN)
Wednesday, 1-3 p.m.
Young (and young at heart) professionals from across the state will gather for idea sharing about successful YPN activities and their effort to become more involved with the REALTOR family.

All attendees are encouraged to participate in their board’s caucus to share details about the committee meetings attended that week in preparation for Thursday’s Board of Directors meeting. Please note this important change to the caucuses. The caucuses will now be organized reflecting board/association size rather than region.
Small Board Caucus: fewer than 400 members
Medium Board Caucus: between 400-999 members
Large Board Caucus: between 1,000-9,999 members
Jumbo Board Caucus: 10,000 or more members
The purpose of the caucuses is to educate the members on action items that will be presented to the Board of Directors. The remaining time may be used to discuss other matters such as NYSAR committee meeting activities. The caucuses will be run by an appointee of the Executive Committee who will report back to the full Executive Committee.
