RealtyTrac: New York State October 2013 total foreclosures decrease from September, up from year-ago levels

In its U.S. Foreclosures Market Report for October 2013, which reports default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions, RealtyTrac Inc. reported New York State had 3,741 total foreclosures, a 5.96-percent decrease from September but an increase of 2.55 percent from October 2012.

New York State ranks 34 out of all 50 states for monthly total foreclosure filings. One in every 2,160 housing units in New York State received a foreclosure filing in October. 

Foreclosure filings were reported nationally on 133,919 U.S. properties in October, an increase of 2.05 percent from September but down 28.18 percent from the same time last year. Nationally, one in every 978 housing units received a foreclosure filing.

NYS home sales post second-highest May total

Homebuyer activity remained strong in May, driving the New York State housing market to the second-highest sales total for the month with 10,348 closings. May 2018 closed sales were 8.6 percent lower than the record of 11,322 set in May 2017.
