RealtyTrac: Sales volume remains level in New York in October, increases nationally

In its October 2013 U.S. Residential & Foreclosure Sales Report, RealtyTrac Inc. reported that New York State residential properties sold at an estimated annualized pace of 151,668 in October, remaining level with the previous month but showing an increase of 3 percent from the same time last year.

The median sales price for New York was $360,000 in October, up 3 percent from September and up 22 percent from October 2012. The median price of a distressed sale – in a foreclosure or bank-owned property – was $245,000, a 7-percent increase from the previous month and up 9 percent from a year ago.

Nationally, U.S. residential properties sold at an estimated annualized pace of 5,649,965 in October, up 2 percent monthly and 13 percent annually. The national median sales price was $170,000, remaining level from September but up 6 percent from October 2012. The median price of a distressed sale was $110,000 nationally, showing no change from September but dropping 7 percent from a year ago.

NYS home sales post second-highest May total

Homebuyer activity remained strong in May, driving the New York State housing market to the second-highest sales total for the month with 10,348 closings. May 2018 closed sales were 8.6 percent lower than the record of 11,322 set in May 2017.
