RealtyTrac: Sales volume and median sales price up for New York from year-ago levels

In its January 2014 U.S. Residential & Foreclosure Sales Report, RealtyTrac Inc. reported that New York State residential properties sold at an estimated annualized pace of 145,492 in January, remaining level with December and rising 4 percent from January 2013. 

The median sales price for New York was $350,000 in January, up 6 percent from the previous month and up 21 percent from the same time last year. The median price of a distressed sale – in a foreclosure or bank-owned property – was $355,000, showing a 4-percent increase from December and a 19-percent increase over January 2013.

Nationally, U.S. residential properties sold at an estimated annualized pace of 5,126,001 in January, level with December, but up 8 percent from the previous year. The national median sales price was $165,957, showing a 3-percent decrease from December and a 1-percent increase from the same time last year.

NYS home sales post second-highest May total

Homebuyer activity remained strong in May, driving the New York State housing market to the second-highest sales total for the month with 10,348 closings. May 2018 closed sales were 8.6 percent lower than the record of 11,322 set in May 2017.
