RealtyTrac: Sales volume and median sales price continue year-over-year gains for New York

In its February 2014 U.S. Residential & Foreclosure Sales Report, RealtyTrac Inc. reported that New York State residential properties sold at an estimated annualized pace of 150,510 in February, down 0.4 percent from January but up 6.5 percent from February 2013.

The median sales price for New York was $365,000 in February, up 4 percent from the previous month and up 22 percent from the same time last year. The median price of a distressed sale – in a foreclosure or bank-owned property – was $239,000, showing a 2-percent increase from January and a 20-percent increase over February 2013.

Nationally, U.S. residential properties sold at an estimated annualized pace of 5,083,241 in February, down 0.2 percent from January, but up 7.2 percent from the previous year. The national median sales price was $172,702, down 1 percent from last month and up 2 percent from the same time last year.
