RealtyTrac: Sales volume and median sales price continue steady climb for New York State

In its March 2014 U.S. Residential & Foreclosure Sales Report, RealtyTrac Inc. reported that New York State residential properties sold at an estimated annualized pace of 150,225 in March, up 1 percent from February and up 7 percent from March 2013. 

The median sales price for New York was $365,000 in March, up 1 percent from the previous month and up 26 percent from the same time last year. The median price of a distressed sale – in a foreclosure or bank-owned property – was $230,000, remaining level with February but up 24 percent from March 2013.

Nationally, U.S. residential properties sold at an estimated annualizes pace of 5,253,464 in March, remaining level with February but up 8 percent from the same time last year. The national median sales price was $175,000, up 1 percent from February and 8 percent from March 2013.

NYS home sales post second-highest May total

Homebuyer activity remained strong in May, driving the New York State housing market to the second-highest sales total for the month with 10,348 closings. May 2018 closed sales were 8.6 percent lower than the record of 11,322 set in May 2017. The median sales price growth trend continued, increasing by 11.5 percent compared to last May, ending the month at $262,000. Click here to read more.
