U.S. Commerce Department: August new home sales rise for Northeast and nationally

Sales of new single-family homes in the Northeast in August rose 29.2 percent to a seasonally adjusted rate of 31,000, according to the U.S. Commerce Department. July’s revised annual rate was 24,000.

Nationally, new home sales were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 504,000 for August. This is 18 percent above the revised July rate of 427,000 and is 33 percent above the August 2013 total of 379,000.
