NAR: Pending home sales fall in August, but remain at healthy level

Pending home sales retreated in August but remained at a healthy level of activity and have now risen year-over-year for 12 consecutive months, according to the National Association of REALTORS (NAR).
 
The Pending Home Sales Index, a forward-looking indicator based on contract signings in August, fell 1.4 percent to 109.4, but is still 6.1 percent above the same time last year.
 
The index in the Northeast fell 5.6 percent to 93.3 in August, but is still 8.9 percent above a year ago.

NYS home sales post second-highest May total

Homebuyer activity remained strong in May, driving the New York State housing market to the second-highest sales total for the month with 10,348 closings. May 2018 closed sales were 8.6 percent lower than the record of 11,322 set in May 2017. The median sales price growth trend continued, increasing by 11.5 percent compared to last May, ending the month at $262,000. Click here to read more.
