Mortgage applications rise more than 11 percent in weekly survey

In its Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey for the week ending October 16, 2015, the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) reported that the volume of mortgage loan applications rose 11.8 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis from one week earlier. On an unadjusted basis, the index increased 1 percent compared with the previous week. This week’s results include an adjustment to account for the Columbus Day holiday.
 
Both the Refinance Index and the Purchase Index also rose, increasing 9 percent and 16 percent respectively.
