The New York State Association of REALTORS’ 2019 Fall Business Meetings will be held Sunday, September 22 through Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino, Verona, NY. Click here for business meetings FAQs.

How to register

Visit www.NYSARPortal.com to register. Your user name is your 9-digit NRDS # and your password is your last name. Select “Upcoming Meetings’ from the “Events” tab. Add additional session or events that require preregistration or payment. Complete your registration and check your inbox for confirmation.


Attendee Tips for NYSAR’s 2019 Fall Business Meetings


When you arrive, please be sure to check in at the NYSAR Registration Desk located in the Cypress Hallway on the second floor. That’s where you will receive your welcome packet with your name badge, the new conference program and member benefits materials. If you purchased tickets for RPAC Karaoke Night, you will also receive them in your envelope.

  • The NYSAR registration desk will be open during the following hours:

              Sunday & Monday: 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.  |  Tuesday: 7:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.

  • To help first-time attendees stand out to each other and to the more experienced attendees, you will receive a “First-timer” ribbon with your name badge.

  • Coming Soon!! Access NYSAR Meeting Planner – your custom guide to the NYSAR Business Meetings at http://meetingplanner.NYSAR.com. Your “My Agenda” will be auto-populated with any committees you’re on or meeting activities you registered for. You can also add any open meetings and events to your schedule. This is also where you’ll find agendas and supporting documents for individual committee meetings.
  • Attend the Legal Update on Sunday from 1:30 – 3 p.m. to earn 1.5 hours of free CE credit.  Join NYSAR’s Director of Legal Services Anthony Gatto Esq.,for the latest update on new laws and regulations impacting your business, from fair housing law to rental regulations and informed consent to advertising, come hear how to operate in compliance and avoid legal risk! Attendees who pre-registered will be admitted first and if space allows, walk-ins will be allowed in on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • The President’s Reception on Sunday evening from 5:15 p.m. - 6:15 p.m., is our opening night welcome reception where all attendees are invited to gather in the Atrium for networking, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
  • The General Session, which will be held Monday from 2-3:30 p.m., is the cornerstone event of the business meetings. You won’t want to miss President Moses Seruam's State of the Association address and the announcement of the 2019 REALTOR® of the Year. 
  • Monday night’s RPAC Karaoke Night fundraiser will be a fun, competitive and exciting night of karaoke, costumes and auctions all in support of RPAC! Tickets are $60 each and are available on a first-come, first-served basis and will be available at the NYSAR registration desk on Sunday and Monday, or until the event sells out.
  • If you’re interested in politics and legislative issues, don’t miss Tuesday’s Legislative Policy Forum featuring NAR Field Representative Zack Rubin-McCarry who will provide insight into the top federal and political issues facing REALTORS® today.
  • The Local Board/Association Forum on Tuesday from 1:30 -3 p.m. offers all attendees the opportunity to discuss current issues and industry trends.
  • Plan to attend your region’s caucus on Tuesday afternoon from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. to share details about committee meetings attended during the meetings in preparation for Wednesday’s Board of Directors meeting.
  • Join NYSAR’s Young Professionals Network for their Happy Hour fundraiser on Sunday night from 6:30pm-7:30pm. All are welcome to attend and socialize.  There will be an auction for NY Yankees tickets to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities! 
  • Several committees are open to non-committee members and you are welcome to sit in to learn more about that committee and what they do. The agenda identifies the meetings that are for committee members only with an asterisk before the committee name.
  • Agendas and handouts are available in NYSAR Meeting Planner for you to download and/or print prior to arriving at the meetings. Remember, staff will not be providing printed copies at any meetings.
  • Coffee service will be available in the REALTOR® Lounge for all attendees on Monday and Tuesday mornings from 7:30-8:45 a.m. A special thanks to M&T Bank for sponsoring Tuesday’s coffee service.
  • Continental breakfast will be provided on Wednesday from 7:30-8:30 a.m. A special thanks to Turning Stone for sponsoring Wednesday’s breakfast.

Ombudsman Training
Saturday, 1-5 p.m.
REALTOR® association ombudsman receive and resolve disputes through constructive communication and advocating for consensus and understanding. This session will assist individuals who currently serve as an ombudsman as well as those looking for guidance and/or additional ombudsman training. Pre-registration by 9/18 and $25 fee applies. 

Changing Tides with BPOs and Appraisals: How to Catch the Wave
(3 hours CE pending)
Sunday, 9 a.m. - Noon
Come learn about Fannie/Freddie’s new 1004p form, and what a hybrid is. Also, learn what to look for in evaluating how to meet USPAP requirements, and who will be completing hybrids, appraisals, and BPOs. Plus, you’ll set details on the new AMC law.

Instructor Development Program - It's Show Time!
Monday, 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Teaching is both an art and a science. While you may be knowledgeable about your topic, are you adept at setting the stage? The first five minutes are the most critical time of your presentation. In this session, you’ll learn how to alleviate your initial anxiety and engage your audience immediately as well as how to avoid blunders throughout your program. Come learn how to be the best you can be! Facilitated by Roseann Farrow, with more than 40 years of bloopers to share, this session is limited to 75 participants.

General Session
Monday, 2 - 3:30 p.m.
This must-attend session will include President Moses Seuram’s State of the Association address, the announcement of the 2019 REALTOR® of the Year. 

RPAC Karaoke Night
Monday, 7:15 - 11 p.m.
Join your fellow REALTORS for a fun, competitive and exciting night of karaoke, costumes and auctions, all in support of RPAC! Tickets cost $60 each and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Please see the event flyer for full details.

NY Metro Area Flood Insurance Update
Tuesday, 8 a.m.  9 a.m.
Rising flood risk and flood insurance requirements affect low-lying areas and those near waterways across the state. Representatives of the New York City Mayor’s Office of Resiliency will discuss the local impacts of recent legislative changes to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and the effects of sea level rise on NYC properties. Informational resources and advocacy efforts by the Mayor’s Office to ensure NFIP affordability will be discussed as well.
This session carries 1.5 hours of CE credit. Pre-registration by 9/18 and $25 fee apply.

M&T Lunch & Learn - “Renovation for REALTORS® – Rehab Lending and Your Business”

Throughout M&T’s footprint, success has been found with REALTOR® partnerships in the area of rehab lending. With housing inventory reaching historic lows, some buyers in markets across the state are struggling to find homes. Many buyers may not initially consider purchasing a home in need of repairs or improvements, but perhaps they should. Join M&T to learn the ins and outs of rehab lending.

All attendees are encouraged to attend this interactive session to discuss industry issues and trends. Speaker details will follow.
 
Regional Caucuses
Tuesday, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
All attendees are encouraged to participate in their regional caucus, facilitated by the Regional Vice President (RVP), to share details about the committee meetings attended that week in preparation for Wednesday’s Board of Directors Meeting.
 
NYSAR New Board of Director Training
Tuesday, 5 - 6 p.m.
If you are a new NYSAR director, please plan to attend this mandatory training session.
