Albany – October 6, 2014 – The New York State Association of REALTORS recognized Jacqlene Rose for her work with Habitat for Humanity and local disaster relief efforts by naming her one of its first-ever Community Service Award honorees during the association’s Fall Business Meetings in Verona, NY.

The NYSAR Community Service Award is intended to honor REALTORS’ community involvement supporting initiatives aimed at a community’s youth, improving the quality of education, quality of life for older Americans, homelessness prevention, as well as efforts following natural disasters.

Rose has been involved with Habitat for Humanity since 2004, when she was chosen to be on a team of 14 people with Habitat’s Global Village Program. She traveled to New Zealand to build a home and since then has gone back three times as a team leader.

She is currently a director for Habitat for Humanity of New York State and has previously served as a president for Habitat for three years. She has traveled across the country participating on “blitz builds,” building 12 homes in a week’s time in Phoenix, Dallas and Atlanta. Since she began volunteering, Rose has been involved with the construction of more than 45 homes.

Rose is also a key force behind disaster relief efforts in her local area, setting up and managing shelters for victims of floods in 2006 and 2011.

“Jacqlene Rose is an inspiration to us all. She’s a shining example of how New York State’s REALTORS are giving back to their communities in a variety of ways and advancing good works to help those in need around the world,” said JP Endres, 2014 president of the New York State Association of REALTORS. “REALTORS don’t just help people achieve the American dream of homeownership, they are working every day to build the communities around them and change lives for the better.”

Along with an inscribed award, a monetary grant of $500 was also made in Rose’s name to the Sidney Area Food Bank, run by the Sidney Methodist Church. Somers REALTOR Linda Crispinelli and Merrick REALTOR Susan Gruen Helsinger were also recipients of this year’s award.
