Staten Island REALTOR Dawn Carpenter inaugurated as NYSAR president

Albany – February 13, 2017 – Dawn M. Carpenter, CPM of Staten Island, NY took the oath of office Monday, February 6, as the 2017 president of the New York State Association of REALTORS (NYSAR). The association’s inauguration ceremony was held in conjunction with its business meetings at The Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Albany, NY. She will serve a one-year term in the post. 

A REALTOR for more than 17 years, Carpenter is the broker-owner of Dawning Real Estate in Staten Island, NY.

Carpenter is a past president of the Staten Island Board of REALTORS (SIBOR) and chair of the Staten Island Multiple Listing Service. Additionally, she has served on or chaired numerous local board committees as well as having served on the board of directors for many years. She was recognized as SIBOR’s REALTOR of the Year in 2008. She also holds memberships in the Brooklyn board, Columbia-Greene board and Greater Capital association.

At the state level, she has chaired the REALTORS Political Action Committee (RPAC) Trustees and the Organizational Planning Committee. She has served on numerous other NYSAR committees including legal action, legislative policy and professional standards steering. She has also served on the NYSAR Board of Directors and executive committee for several years. She was named the association’s REALTOR of the Year in 2011.

At the national level, Carpenter has served as a National Association of REALTORSdirector and as a member of the Commercial Committee and Federal Technology Policy Advisory Board. She was 2016 chair of the Property Management Forum and continues to serve on the forum. She is the vice chair of the Large Commercial Firms Advisory Group. She is a regular attendee of NAR’s national conference and is a Golden R RPAC Hall of Fame member. She is also on the IREM Federal Housing Advisory Board. 

Carpenter is also actively involved in the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), serving on its Legislative Policy Committee. She is a past chair of the Ethics Committee. She is a past president of the IREM Greater New York Chapter #26 and was its Certified Property Manager of the Year in 2008. 

Active in her community, Carpenter is a long-time volunteer with the March of Dimes and American Cancer Society as well as the Columbia-Greene and Richmond County Special Olympics.

NYS home sales post second-highest May total

Homebuyer activity remained strong in May, driving the New York State housing market to the second-highest sales total for the month with 10,348 closings. May 2018 closed sales were 8.6 percent lower than the record of 11,322 set in May 2017. The median sales price growth trend continued, increasing by 11.5 percent compared to last May, ending the month at $262,000. Click here to read more.
