Ethics Complaints

Any person having reason to believe that a NYSAR member is guilty of any unethical conduct subject to disciplinary action may file a signed complaint in writing with a local board/association of REALTORS

If you are working with a real estate licensee who is not a REALTOR, options may include contacting the New York State Department of State, Division of Licensing Services. Find more information at: 

How to File an Ethics Complaint

Complete Form E1 (Ethics Complaint), making sure that you sign and date the form.

Give the name of the respondent. Indicate which of the 17 Articles you feel was violated. Attach a written summary of the situation and how the actions relates to one or more of the articles. At this time documentation (such as listing agreements, purchase agreements, buyer contracts or disclosure forms) which support your complaint are not required.

Complaints must be filed within 180 days of the time that the alleged offense and facts relating to it could have been known by the complainant in the exercise of reasonable diligence or within 180 days after the conclusion of the transaction or event, whichever is later.

Attach one copy of the complaint form along with your letter and brief, preferably typed, narration of events and email or mail your complaint to the local board/association of REALTORS.
